Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
DBT is a recommended approach for individuals who feel their emotions intensely. It’s based on the idea that an individual can accept themselves and their struggles while simultaneously working to develop healthier coping strategies.
Using a DBT approach, I focus on the following concepts with clients:
- Emotional regulation
- Distress tolerance
- Relationships
- Mindfulness
In focusing on these concepts individuals may learn to better cope with challenges, find self-acceptance, and ultimately increase their sense of well-being.
